Stop Politicizing Everything

Dear Sportswriters, I am one of you. I get it. You've got some hot political takes. You hate Donald Trump. You think people need to know these things. They don't. Sports aren't politics. The New England Patriots aren't Donald Trump. I can hate the Patriots and like Donald Trump. I can hate Donald Trump and love the Patriots*. These things are not mutually exclusive. I can hate Donald Trump and hate the Patriots and still not think the Patriots are Donald Trump. This is a ridiculous narrative, but it's also an increasingly common one. There's an innate human desire to take all of the things we dislike and lump them together. Twitter was supposed to bring celebrities, writers, athletes and the public closer. But I'm afraid it's actually led to the opposite. The constant interactions with society's worst Twitter trolls has led sportswriters into this high-minded world where they are the great and intelligent writer providing content to the unwashed masses     *Considering the Patriots are in Massachusetts, I can promise you there are millions of people that feel this way.
